I learned about the, "undo tool" in Photoshop which saved me several times when I was messing around in Photoshop. I did not learn about this tool in graphic design and it was extremely helpful last class.
One feature in photoshop I learned how to use was the select tool and how to invert it. So you can choose what not to select and delete the background behind an object.
This week, I learned to use the lasso tool. This is helpful when selecting an object because it can then be inverted. This is especially helpful when an object is an odd shape, because it is easier to select.
One feature in Photoshop that I learned how to work with this week was the Magnetic Lasso tool. I didn't know that such a thing existed and learning about it had helped me in my Graphic Design class.
This week in photoshop I learned how to use the eye drop feature. You use it to click on one pixel and it will select that color so that you can use the same color to write in a font to make it match.
This week I learned how to use the brush tool. With in this tool there is the brush mode, pencil mode, mixer mode, and color replenishment mode. With the first two modes they just turn whatever you go over black. The Mixer tool blends the colors you go over it into one.
One feature I learned this week in Photoshop is Command + T. This feature allows me to change the height and width of an Image, there is also an option to distort the image the way you want to.
I learned how to use the select tool, both quick select and manual drawing to select a section of an image. Using, that I could create a new layer, delete the selection, etc. I also learned to deselect a selection with Command + D.
I learned to work with the select and mask tool which cut out parts of the picture you do not want. After I did that I used the eraser tool to erase out part of an image.
One tool that I learned during this week is the undo/backwards tool. This tools was very useful when I mess up. It was really easy and simple to do and it save me from restarting.
One feature in Photoshop which I learned how to use this week was the opacity tool. It allowed me to lower the opacity of images and it allowed me to make images fade out so that it looked like they were underwater.
One feature in photoshop I learned this week was how to add and adjust a filter on an image. This filter allows an image to become a different tint or color, and can be layered over multiple images to make them seem cohesive.
I learned how to change the size of an image (layer) so it fits with the background. Learning that allowed me to skew my image so it doesn't look fake or out of place.
One feature I learned in Photoshop this week is how to flip an image so it's facing the other way. You do this by selecting the layer and then going into image and press flip horizontally.
The most helpful feature I learned about in my little time spent with PS was the magic lasso, despite controversy around its usefulness due to its tendency to do what it wants, not what the designer wants, after spending time and working with it extensively, it is extremely helpful. Not only does it latch on to figures defined as the ones I want to 'lasso' out, it also automatically makes pinpoints between the points where I can freely move the lasso, holding that pinpoint as the segment's start. All in all, even though it is a wild tool, I have learned to work with it, making my lasso-ing time much easier.
